Allsite Staffing is recruiting an experienced Landfill Manager to oversee a regulated waste facility in the Cavan area.
This position will take responsibility for the effective operation of the site, with a strong focus on environmental compliance, site performance and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will ensure all activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with the facility's environmental licence. The role will involve working closely with contractors, laboratories, regulators and other external stakeholders while maintaining high standards across all environmental and operational activities.
We are looking for an experienced environmental or waste professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a regulated operational site. The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience within waste management, landfill operations, wastewater treatment, environmental management or a similar regulated environment.
A relevant qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Waste Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
Practical experience working with environmental licences, permits and compliance requirements.
A strong understanding of environmental monitoring and reporting.
Knowledge of relevant waste and environmental legislation.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and manage site requirements effectively.
Strong comnmunication skills are key for this role with an ability to build strong working realations with regulators, local authorities or statutory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Take responsibility for the daily operation and overall performance of the facility.
Manage contractors and specialist service providers carrying out works on site.
Coordinate waste acceptance activities and ensure correct procedures are followed.
Oversee monitoring of groundwater, surface water, landfill gas and leachate.
Ensure continued compliance with environmental licence conditions and applicable regulations.
Manage leachate, wastewater and water-quality requirements across the facility.
Maintain accurate environmental, compliance and operational records.
Prepare required environmental, regulatory and site performance reports.
Coordinate inspections, environmental audits and regulatory visits.
Liaise with laboratories, regulators, local authorities and other external parties.
Identify operational or environmental concerns and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Maintain and review SOPs, site procedures, risk assessments and environmental controls.
Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality standards are maintained throughout site operations.
