We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer to join a leading steel fabrication and manufacturing company based in Arklow.

This is a key position responsible for ensuring quality assurance and control across fabrication, assembly, and on-site erection phases, maintaining compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC procedures and inspection plans (ITPs)
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. EN 1090, ISO 9001, welding standards)
  • Perform inspections throughout:
    • Material receipt
    • Fabrication processes
    • Assembly and fit-up
    • Surface treatment / coatings
    • Final inspection and testing
  • Coordinate and witness NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) activities
  • Review and approve welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and welder qualifications
  • Liaise with production teams, engineers, and site personnel to resolve quality issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including:
    • Inspection reports
    • NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)
    • QA dossiers / handover documentation
  • Support audits (internal, client, and third-party)
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline
  • Proven experience in steel fabrication / structural steel / heavy manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Welding processes and inspection
    • EN 1090 / ISO 3834 / ISO 9001
  • Experience with NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, VT)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel to site for erection phase inspections when required
