We are currently seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join a major data centre construction project in Mons, Belgium. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving environmental, health, and safety performance across a fast-paced, large-scale engineering project. This position is ideally suited to a senior EHS professional with 8+ years' experience in construction or complex engineering environments, particularly within data centres, power, pharmaceutical, or heavy industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all EHS activities across the full project lifecycle including pre-construction, construction, commissioning, and handover
Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific EHS plans, policies, and procedures
Ensure compliance with relevant EHS legislation, client requirements, and company standards
Act as the primary EHS point of contact for the client, contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities
Oversee and conduct:
Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Site inspections, safety walks, and audits
Incident investigations and root cause analysis
Drive a strong safety-first culture across a large, multi-discipline construction workforce
Deliver EHS inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training
Monitor and report EHS performance metrics, KPIs, and corrective actions
Support construction teams with high-risk activities including:
Heavy lifting operations
Energy systems
Confined spaces
Commissioning works
Lead environmental management initiatives, including waste management, emissions control, and environmental compliance
Proactively identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies within a fast-track construction environment
Key Requirements
7-10+ years' EHS experience within large-scale construction or engineering projects
Strong experience in one or more of the following sectors:
Data Centres
Power / Energy Projects
Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Heavy Industrial or Infrastructure Projects
Proven experience managing EHS from pre-construction through to project completion
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
Ability to work full-time on site within a dynamic construction environment
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Confident challenging unsafe practices and influencing senior project teams
Experience working for or alongside engineering or construction contractors
Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related discipline
NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, or equivalent certification (desirable)
CSCS / Safe Pass (or ability to obtain immediately)
