A leading Irish consulting engineering practice is seeking an experienced Associate Director in Structural Engineering to take on a key leadership role within the business. This position offers the opportunity to not only deliver complex, high-profile projects, but also to play a central role in team leadership, strategic growth, and client development. Location: Limerick, Galway or Dublin (flexible) Salary: €90,000 - €110,000 + benefits
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership across structural engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence and efficient delivery
Lead, manage, and grow a high-performing team of engineers and technicians, including mentoring, performance management, and succession planning
Act as a key decision-maker on project direction, resource planning, and technical solutions
Drive business development initiatives, including identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, and contributing to bids and fee proposals
Take ownership of project financial performance, including fee negotiation, budget control, and commercial risk management
Represent the business at client meetings, industry events, and stakeholder engagements
Oversee project programmes to ensure timely and successful delivery aligned with client expectations
Champion a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement across all activities
Requirements
Chartered Engineer (CEng MIEI) with Engineers Ireland
Honours Degree (Level 8 minimum) in Structural or Civil Engineering (with strong structural focus)
12-18+ years' experience in structural design within a consulting engineering environment
Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams
Strong commercial acumen with experience in business development, client engagement, and financial management
Deep technical expertise in structural mechanics and advanced design principles
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
High proficiency in Autodesk Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, CADS A3D, Tedds, and MS Office
Experience operating within structured project management, quality, and safety systems
