A leading Irish consulting engineering practice is seeking an experienced Associate Director in Structural Engineering to take on a key leadership role within the business. This position offers the opportunity to not only deliver complex, high-profile projects, but also to play a central role in team leadership, strategic growth, and client development.

Location: Limerick, Galway or Dublin (flexible)

Salary: €90,000 - €110,000 + benefits

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership across structural engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence and efficient delivery
  • Lead, manage, and grow a high-performing team of engineers and technicians, including mentoring, performance management, and succession planning
  • Act as a key decision-maker on project direction, resource planning, and technical solutions
  • Drive business development initiatives, including identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, and contributing to bids and fee proposals
  • Take ownership of project financial performance, including fee negotiation, budget control, and commercial risk management
  • Represent the business at client meetings, industry events, and stakeholder engagements
  • Oversee project programmes to ensure timely and successful delivery aligned with client expectations
  • Champion a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement across all activities
Requirements
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MIEI) with Engineers Ireland
  • Honours Degree (Level 8 minimum) in Structural or Civil Engineering (with strong structural focus)
  • 12-18+ years' experience in structural design within a consulting engineering environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in business development, client engagement, and financial management
  • Deep technical expertise in structural mechanics and advanced design principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • High proficiency in Autodesk Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, CADS A3D, Tedds, and MS Office
  • Experience operating within structured project management, quality, and safety systems
