Our client, a well-established and growing engineering organisation, is seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman / Supervisor to oversee workshop operations and support the successful delivery of fabrication and engineering projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong workshop management experience who can coordinate personnel, resources, and production activities while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate all day-to-day workshop operations.
  • Allocate labour and resources effectively to meet project deadlines and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and preparation activities for project delivery.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, and Site Teams to ensure schedules and project requirements are met.
  • Ensure materials, tools, consumables, and equipment are available and properly maintained.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate purchasing requirements as needed.
  • Conduct quality inspections and maintain high standards throughout workshop activities.
  • Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture across the workshop.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings when required.
  • Maintain workshop organisation, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Support the training, development, and onboarding of workshop personnel.
  • Complete reports, records, and documentation accurately and on time.
Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 4 years' experience within a mechanical, fabrication, engineering, construction, or manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory, foreman, chargehand, or team leadership role.
  • Proven ability to manage workshop operations, personnel, and resources.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, workshop procedures, and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
  • Trade qualification in Mechanical, Fabrication, Welding, Fitting, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within Mechanical, Electrical, or Construction Services sectors.
  • Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and other relevant safety certifications.
  • Experience with workshop scheduling, productivity monitoring, and resource planning.
  • First Aid certification.
Must Have : 
  • Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to the Arklow area.
  • Valid work authorisation for Ireland.
  • This is an on-site position in Arklow
