Our client is seeking an experienced MEP Estimator with a strong structural bias to join its expanding Pre-Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile energy, industrial, and data centre projects, playing a key role in the successful delivery of competitive tenders from initial enquiry through to project award.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel, and associated MEP packages.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to identify project scope and commercial requirements.
  • Carry out detailed quantity take-offs and pricing exercises.
  • Obtain, evaluate, and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare competitive tender submissions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities for value engineering, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Pre-Construction, Engineering, Commercial, and Operations teams throughout the tender process.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical and commercial queries.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, cost plans, and pricing schedules.
  • Maintain current material, labour, plant, and subcontractor cost databases.
  • Support the seamless handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and supply chain developments to ensure competitive tendering.
About You
  • Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Previous estimating experience within structural steel, mechanical, industrial, energy, or data centre projects.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, installation, and construction methodologies.
  • Experience preparing estimates and tender submissions for engineering or construction projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tender submissions simultaneously.
