The Role As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a pivotal role in the commercial success of a major Mechanical and MEP project, taking ownership from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams and clients, you'll ensure commercial objectives are achieved while delivering exceptional project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of Mechanical and MEP packages throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Prepare cost plans, budgets, forecasts and detailed commercial reports.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation.
- Support procurement activities, tender evaluations and subcontract negotiations.
- Manage measurements, valuations and interim payment applications.
- Administer variations, change control and contractual compliance.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts with both clients and subcontractors.
- Identify commercial risks and maximise opportunities to improve project performance and profitability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
About You You'll be a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in Mechanical or MEP projects and a passion for delivering technically challenging developments.
We're looking for someone who has:
- 5+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction or engineering sector.
- Strong experience managing Mechanical, Building Services or MEP packages.
- Previous experience with a main contractor or specialist mechanical contractor.
- Experience delivering projects within energy, power generation, data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial or other mission-critical sectors (highly desirable).
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
- A solid understanding of NEC, FIDIC or similar forms of contract.
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills and stakeholder management experience.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
