We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial delivery of major Energy and Data Centre projects.
This is a strategic leadership position offering full responsibility for the commercial, contractual, and financial performance of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Working closely with the CEO, Managing Director, and Project Directors, you will play a key role in shaping commercial strategy while ensuring excellence across some of the company's flagship projects.
Key Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership
  • Lead the overall commercial strategy, governance, and financial performance of projects.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the commercial team.
  • Act as the primary commercial interface with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with the CEO, Managing Director, and Project Directors to support commercial decision-making and business strategy.
  • Deliver accurate commercial reporting, forecasting, and financial control.
Estimating & Pre-Construction
  • Lead estimating, budgeting, cost planning, and feasibility assessments.
  • Develop procurement strategies and contract packaging.
  • Oversee tender documentation, scopes of work, and commercial submissions.
  • Lead tender evaluations, commercial negotiations, and contract awards.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives and proactive commercial risk management.
Procurement & Commercial Delivery
  • Lead procurement of major subcontractor and supplier packages.
  • Manage commercial performance across all contracts, including valuations, variations, change control, and claims.
  • Maintain robust cost reporting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke contract forms.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, dispute avoidance, and contract resolution.
Project Close-Out
  • Lead final account negotiations and commercial close-out.
  • Ensure accurate financial reconciliation and successful project completion.
  • Deliver cost analysis, benchmarking, and lessons learned to support future business growth.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Commercial Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in senior commercial management roles on major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record delivering projects from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Strong experience in estimating, procurement, cost planning, and commercial management.
  • Background in energy, utilities, power generation, data centres, pharmaceuticals, industrial, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent commercial, contractual, and financial management expertise.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level.
  • A strategic thinker with strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
