An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager - Structures to join the delivery team on a major 200MW energy infrastructure project in Clondalkin, Dublin. This is a key site-based position with responsibility for the planning, coordination, scheduling and delivery of structural and steelwork packages as part of a large-scale construction programme. We are looking for a proactive Project Manager with a strong structural construction background who is comfortable taking ownership of programme, site coordination, subcontractors and day-to-day project delivery. The Role As Project Manager - Structures, you will take responsibility for the successful planning and execution of structural works on site, ensuring packages are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards. Key responsibilities will include:
Plan, programme and manage structural steel and associated structural works from mobilisation through to completion.
Develop, maintain and monitor detailed construction programmes and short-term look-ahead schedules.
Coordinate structural activities with the wider construction programme and other disciplines on site.
Manage structural steelwork contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist packages.
Monitor progress against programme, identify potential delays or constraints and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate engineering, design information, procurement, fabrication, deliveries and installation requirements.
Work closely with Site Management, Engineering, Design, Commercial, Planning and Health & Safety teams.
Lead site coordination meetings and provide clear progress and programme updates to senior project stakeholders.
Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality requirements and project procedures.
Manage RFIs, technical queries, design coordination issues and construction interfaces.
Maintain a strong focus on health & safety, quality, productivity and programme performance.
Proactively identify project risks and develop practical solutions before they impact delivery.
Drive structural packages through to completion, inspection, snagging and handover.
Candidate Requirements The successful candidate must come from a structural construction background, ideally with significant experience in structural steel and major construction projects. You should have:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related discipline.
Strong experience managing structural and/or structural steel packages on construction projects.
Demonstrable experience in project planning, scheduling and programme management.
Strong understanding of structural drawings, specifications, sequencing, fabrication and site installation.
Previous experience working with a main contractor, structural contractor or specialist steelwork contractor would be highly advantageous.
Strong subcontractor and site management capabilities.
Excellent organisational and coordination skills.
Strong commercial and programme awareness.
The ability to manage multiple work fronts and priorities in a fast-paced site environment.
The Person This role requires someone who is proactive rather than reactive and who takes genuine ownership of project delivery. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential. You will need to identify issues early, develop practical solutions and communicate effectively with engineers, subcontractors, site teams, management and other project stakeholders. You should be comfortable making decisions, driving actions to completion and maintaining momentum across demanding structural packages.
