I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer / Team Lead to join a growing Water & Utilities engineering team in Galway.
This is a senior technical and project leadership position working across major water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Ireland, with responsibility for leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects from concept and detailed design through construction and completion.
Irish water-sector experience is essential for this position.
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the Irish water and wastewater sector, including experience working with Uisce Éireann, local authorities, Irish standards and approval processes.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the technical leadership and delivery of a varied portfolio of water, wastewater and utilities projects, including:
- Water mains and distribution networks
- Wastewater and sewer networks
- Pumping stations and reservoirs
- Water and wastewater treatment infrastructure
- Abstractions and associated infrastructure
- Drainage and stormwater storage systems
- Design-Build infrastructure projects
You will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including specialist disciplines such as MEICA, while managing design quality, programme, resources, client relationships and project delivery.
The position will also involve reviewing engineering designs, calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports; providing construction-stage technical support; mentoring junior engineers; and working directly with clients, contractors, Uisce Éireann and local authorities.
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have:
- 8+ years' engineering experience, with significant experience gained on Irish water, wastewater or utilities projects
- Strong Design-Build project delivery experience
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong knowledge of Uisce Éireann standards, specifications and approval processes
- Experience managing projects from concept through design and construction
- Strong client and stakeholder management capabilities
- A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Knowledge of Irish design standards, Eurocodes, Building Regulations and Health & Safety requirements
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and relevant water, drainage, GIS or hydraulic modelling software
Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland, or progress towards chartership, would be highly advantageous.
