Allsite Staffing is recruiting an experienced Senior Ecologist to join a growing environmental and ecology team delivering a diverse portfolio of nationally significant projects across Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for a solution-focused ecologist who enjoys taking ownership of projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and helping clients deliver strong biodiversity and nature-positive outcomes.
As Senior Ecologist, you will take a key role in the delivery and management of ecological assessments across large-scale and complex projects. You will work closely with environmental specialists, engineers, planners, project managers and clients from initial survey and assessment through to project delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
Designing, undertaking and managing ecological surveys on large-scale and complex projects.
Leading and coordinating field surveys across a range of habitats and species.
Collecting, analysing and interpreting ecological data.
Preparing high-quality ecological reports and technical assessments.
Supporting the preparation of Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Appropriate Assessment (AA) documentation.
Using GIS and specialist ecological survey equipment to support assessments and reporting.
Providing practical ecological advice to clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
Identifying potential ecological constraints and developing appropriate mitigation and enhancement measures.
Supporting biodiversity and nature-positive solutions throughout project design and delivery.
Managing ecological inputs, programmes and deliverables across multiple projects.
Liaising with clients, statutory bodies and other project stakeholders.
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the ecology team.
Ideally, you will have:
A relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Botany or a related discipline.
Strong professional experience within ecology/environmental consultancy or a similar environment.
Experience undertaking and managing ecological surveys.
Good knowledge of Irish and European environmental and nature conservation legislation.
Experience contributing to EcIA, AA/Natura Impact Statements and environmental assessments.
Strong ecological report-writing and data interpretation skills.
Experience working on infrastructure, energy, utilities, transport or major development projects would be advantageous.
GIS experience would be beneficial.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
The ability to manage your own workload while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
A full driving licence and access to a car.
Flexibility to travel throughout Ireland when projects require.
