Senior / Principal Ecologist - Terrestrial or Aquatic
Locations: Dublin, Cork, Galway, Kilkenny or Sligo
Hybrid / Flexible Working I am currently recruiting for
two experienced Ecologists at Senior / Principal level to join a growing environmental and ecology team delivering some of Ireland's most significant
large-scale capital infrastructure and development projects.
The project portfolio includes
renewable energy, water and utilities, Uisce Éireann programmes, transport and major infrastructure projects across Ireland.
I am keen to speak with both
terrestrial/generalist ecologists and candidates with a particular interest or specialism in
freshwater/aquatic ecology.
The Opportunity These roles offer a

Depending on your experience, you will lead ecological assessments and project delivery, working directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams from early planning and consenting through to design and delivery.
For the
terrestrial/generalist role, experience may include habitat and botanical surveys, protected species, mammals, bats, ornithology, invasive species, biodiversity assessment and ecological impact assessment.
For the
aquatic/freshwater role, experience may include freshwater habitat and fisheries surveys, Q-value and RHAT surveys, aquatic botany, eDNA, electrofishing, freshwater pearl mussel surveys and ecological assessment of major water and infrastructure projects.
What We're Looking For - Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Previous Irish or UK ecology experience is essential
- Must have at least 6 years consultancy experience
- Strong ecological consultancy or relevant industry experience
- Experience delivering ecological surveys and assessments
- Knowledge of Irish and European environmental legislation
- Strong technical report writing and GIS skills
- Ability to manage projects, clients and multidisciplinary stakeholders
- Interest in progressing into project, team and technical leadership
- Existing right to work in Ireland is essential
Membership of
CIEEM and/or progress towards Chartership would be advantageous.
